Stonehenge

My final adventure in the UK was a day trip to Stonehenge. I was prepared for it to be a let down, because everyone I talked to has told me as much. But I still wanted to see it, so I jumped on a train and made my way down to Salisbury. I decided to take a tour, though it goes against all my traveling principles, because it was going to be the same price as a bus and admission, and I thought maybe i could get some more information. Well it ended up being a good choice because there only were two people who signed up, me and this other gentleman. So I essentially got a private tour out of it.
The strangest thing to me about Stonehenge was its location. It's this amazing ancient monument that (at least one theory states) was a memorial to the dead, and Stonehenge is currently about 50 meters off of a highway. It's a strange juxtaposition.
Stonehenge itself didn't appear to be small to me, rather it was less spaced out than I had anticipated. But still it was sight to behold. One of the neatest things I learned was that the pieces fit together almost like legos! Also the sun rises over the Sun Stone on exactly June 21st, my birthday!

Today I arrived in Copenhagen, but unfortunately I had not read over my rental agreement in enough detail to discover that I could not pick up my keys until Monday. You can imagine my panic at 10 o'clock at night in London before my 7 AM flight the next morning. I was lucky enough to have my mentor/student buddy pick me up and help me find a hostel that actually had room (not such an easy feat on a saturday in August). He also took me on a tour of downtown copenhagen, so I am now more familiar with the area. Monday I'll get into my apartment and Tuesday classes start, so as one adventure ends, another begins!!!
