Saturday - 8mi race (I garmin'd it at 8.1 but who's being picky...:-P )
Splits: 6:16, 6:24, 6:57, 7:10, 6:39, 6:30, 7:11, 6:15 (ha! Can you locate the ridiculous hills based on my splits :-P)
Official Time: 54:08
Place: 3rd Woman
Total Mileage: 12mi
Sunday - 8mi + gym + 1 mi run home from gym
Total Weekly Mileage: 47 miles
Mon - 8mi Movin Shoes run with the boys.
Tues - 6 mi AM run easy
Balboa 8-Miler
I didn't really commit to actually running in this until the night before, but even then I said I was going to do it as a tempo run. All morning I kept referring to it as a tempo run, even as I was registering and getting my number. It wasn't until I put on my uniform singlet that I remembered I don't know how to tempo in a race. I only know how to race. My "plan" was to go out in about 7 mins and then just do cut downs from there. Unfortunately three things inhibited this goal: 1) This was more XC than road race, with hills that had me forgetting I was in San Diego and instead felt like I was racing through Van Cordtland park, 2) I got out in 6:16, which completely ruined my whole cut down from 7:00 to 6:30s and 3) I'm too competitive to do a tempo in an actual race.
Splits were all over the place due to the change in terrain but overall I was pleased with my longest race ever. The longer distance I try, the more I like it...which is strange considering I was so deadset on shorter distances in college.
I was third female overall and won my age group (though I always find that latter statement deceiving. Technically I was the second woman in for my age group, behind my teammate, but since she was the overall winner I get to take the crown for the age group. Still sounds funny to me...)
Mileage is up. Little aches and pains are diminishing. I'm actually feeling rather strong right now. Things are good...

Nice race. Following race plans is overrated.
